Nooooooo, don’t turn off the trackpoint, lol. You can do it in BIOS, but it’s seriously much better than the tiny trackpad. You can adjust mouse sensitivity (duh) to make it less jumpy. I actually turned the trackpad off through BIOS because the trackpoint is better (once I got used to it).

To crapadarappa: what’s the keyboard like? I’ve heard horror stories about the quality of ThinkPad keyboards after the switch from IBM to Lenovo. Is it mushy, or nice and firm and “clicky” like on IBMs?

Can you turn off the trackpoint thing?

There is a VGA out on the T400.

If you pay for a dock then there is a DVI output on the dock.

For 720p I would just go with the VGA connection. DVI/HDMI will not be that much better.

A VGA to HDMI converter is a total waste of money if you have a VGA input on the TV. All it can do is duplicate the circuits that are in your TV and I would suspect that the ones in the TV are hugher quality than the ones in a converter.

Are you sure it gets 8:30 hours of battery life? Quoted in your description. I’ve heard it gets 6 hours. Sounds ridiculous for unplugged time.
